what dose rfa mean
rfa is restricted free agent.
i think the washington capitals should go after alex kovalev to mesh in with oveckin and kozlov
canucks are teh best team becvuz they going to get spezza
Are you a retard spezza sign with the sens 7 years at 49 million
canucks should focus on buying Naslund a wheel chair!
this needs updating again, both Heatley and Spezza have since been resigned.
huh….. canucks who?
wow there’s not a lot out there. I thought J.P. Dumont re-signed with Nashville.
Yo
a million bucks says the leafs sign rob blake to a massive contract
it’s a weak free agency market this year.
Rob Blake is too expensive + they need some big FRWARDS!!!!!!
Toronto needs to trade Raycroft
Tor-Raycroft, 5th round pick FOR LA- Cammalerri, Bernier
Ovechkin In montreal for 2 first choice 2 second choice and 1 third choice ;) Thats good
No way they dont have that many picks, washington will never accept, and well that’s just PLAIN DUMB!!!
Heatly SHOULD be captain!!! Alfredson= Washed Up
Colorado needs a better goalie.
[...] 2008 nhl free agents [...]
LEFAS GOTTA TRADE SUNDIN LEAFS: trade sundin to ATLANTA for HOSSA and 3 round pick
Ha ya right hossa is overrated!!! + atlanta draft pickes…
Not good
Leafs must blow it up and trade tucker, raycroft, and blake
id like to see Lecaviller in Toronto
Levaviller – Raycroft, Steen, 3rd round pick!!!
First of all ovechkin is resigned and lecalvier will never go to toronto.
But i do agree that Heatley should be captain but u have to admit that alfredson is doin good right now, and i hate to admit that.
And whoever said their wasn’t alot available this season:
Pavol Demitra
Brian Rolston
Marian Hossa
Rob Blake
Dan Boyle
Niklas Lidstrom
Brendon Shanahan
Vaclav Prospal
Wade Redden
Markus Naslund
Mats Sundin
And thats just the ufa stars thurs plenty of mediocure ufa’s and loads of rfa’s any team would love to have like Jay Boumeester, Brad Boyes, Ryan Clowe, and Marc Andre Fleury to name a few
Get ur facts right!
Can we relax on the swearing and baiting please?
no we can’t
ps. most of those free agents will be re-signed by july first
Duh- why dont you think before you speak, it’s really fun you should try it some time!!!
obsessed- just because ovechkin resighned doesn’t mean he can’t be traded
ps. thanks for agreeing with me,
LONG LIVE HEATLY!!!
crosby injured what-ev they still shutout the other team
HA-HA-HA
cliff fletcher the wave of da future???
This just in…..
“Cliff Fletcher trades Mats Sundin and 1st round pick in 2008 to the Pittsburg Penguins for Sidney Crosby”
Wow!!! Good things are coming our way!!!
I admit that would be good but…
Has not happened, will not happen.
you no wat i hope that toronto can get some good players and not trrade sundin so they can make the playoffs next year
i think that you sign hedrik lunkwist and trade raycroft and toskola
or just trade ratcroft cuse he suks
they sshould get a goal scorer
Everybody! i have a scoop. The cup is in Montreal this year… Plus, Alex Tanguay (from calgary) is coming for Ryder, Corey Locke and a 2 round pick or Marleau for Chipchura, Ryder, and a 3 round… Or!!!! Lecavalier (He would either stay in tampa or come to Montreal, sorry Toronto…He will not go play for you…He’s a proud quebecker) For Halak, Ryder and 2 first round (or a first round and A. Kostitsyn)
I think Toronto should be going for Jeff Carter… Philly dont have enough money for him… Or Sean Avery or david legwand
toomuchmat, your the bomb!!!Leafs will suck for a long time!!!!
yo toomuchmat i think you have toomuchtime on your hands.
None of those trades will ever happen cause no one likes Montreal…
Except for old dudes with beards
Trade Toskala what are you smoking?
Trade raycroft OK
Yes I know I didnt capitalize the R on raycroft… He doesn’t deserve it!!
fairly big name off the free agent market, as nashville re-signed jp dumont to a 4-year deal today.
Yea i knew they would
Same as Toronto will sign Sundin to a 3-year $19.5M dallar contract extension
toronto will never make the playoffs in a very long time they suck way to much and sundin is worth nothing
Oh yea, if he isn’t worth anything why is he 21st in leauge scoring. *******
What about Campbell, 2 straight All Star seasons and one of the fastest defensemen out there. Also, the Sabs have cap room to get players like Redden, Straka, Prospal, and Morrison.
another big restricted free agent re-signs… dion phaneuf to stay in calgary
flames got dion for 6! kipper for 6! regehr for 5 iggy for 5! how about this for a trade
Alex Tangauy for Mats Sundin
Magnus Johansson is playing for the Panthers and Sergeri Samsonov for the Hurricanes.
No way Tangauy!!! i rather have Sundin!!!
News…
Redden has said he will NOT waive his no-trade clause
This surpises me that they would even ask him after he said and i quote…
“I would rather pay to play in Ottawa than to go anywhere else.”
how bout prospal for sanford and bordon & Hossa for salo and cook
i Think toronto should sign hosa this year and keep sundin and
Trade Macabe, tucker ,
macabe ,kubina
or blake and tucker
For dion phanuef
It
could work
i just pray that toronto can get some could players
i THink think they sould trade
sundin 08 1st round pick ,blake , tucker antropov or macabe,or there whole team lol
Ecxept Toskala
ya your right
Trade list, Toronto Maple Leafs:
Belak, Blake, Gill, Kubina, Mcabe, Moore, Stajan, Stralman,
Tucker, Bell…
And…
Of course RAYROFT…
u no that guy who totally screwed up on every game in the last season.
He doesnt even deserve to sit on the bentch!!
Not to mention his two million dollar salary…
Id pay him that to get lost
Litterally go out in the forest, and get lost…
FOREVER
let him go back to his family
U no those MONKEZ
Oh no Raycroft is dat to day with the Flu oh no how will Toronto ever manage …
Better than they do with him!!
Just in Fletcher signs Alex Steen to a two year contract extention reported to be worth 1.7M a year.
Hey dude u might want to update that list!!
[...] year. Ckeck out these sites: 2008 NHL Free Agents | 2008 NHL Free Agents | NHL Free Agents 2008 nhl free agents ? world of hockey [...]
Big name off the free agent market…
Tampa Bay have re-signed Dan Boyle to a six-year deal.
I think I’ve got it all updated after deadline day. Let me know if you spot something wrong.
Jackman signs new contract extention for 4 years with the blues!!
kevin…..you…are officailly retarded…what were you thinking when you said
Lecavalier for Raycroft, Steen, and a 3rd round pick…who…would EVER do that im sorry but you just gotta give up with the leafs..they will never win…
I admit now that that would have been a stupid trade.
Yea Steen is better than Lecaviller.
PS. HABSFAN ——- wow just by that name i know u are a RETARD!!
Another top scorer is off the free agent market
Brad Boyes has signed a 4 year 16M contract extention with St. Louis
Dude better update!!
leafs are going to get nash soon baby
Why would Nash want to play for the Leafs?? I think he would rather play for the Saskatoon Blades!!
there is going to be a block buster trade in the off season to get some marqiue players
Yo:
Peter foresberg is a RFA with the Avilanche.
Foresberg is a UFA
Andrew Murray is off the free agent market!!!
UPDATE DUDE!!!
Yo i am now changing my name to:
HOMEDOG63 :)
Go Leafs, Avs, and Pens all the way!!
Joe Sakic back from injury, Foresberg, an Foote are also making their return to the city!!
Hey everyone, check the link…
http://hockeyworld.wordpress.com/2008/03/11/moving/
I’m moving the site.
u no it really isn’t that hard to find another list.
oilers will trade reasoner, stortini and roloson for martin st.louis… it will happen , you heard it from me first
Ok. I have alot of family who are leafs fans but seriously guys, stop with your crazy trade rumors. Crosby is not getting traded to the leafs. Vinny is not coming to Toronto. No member of their team will ever be traded for more then a third round pick. Start building your team with good drafts and smart UFA signings, not like Blake for 10 million a year or whatever it was. Please leaf fans…live in reality. Or maybe reality is so painful for you, thats why you decide to live in your fantasy world where every player comes to the leafs for nothing more then fifth round draft picks.
The only player from this years UFA’s on my wishlist is Brian Campbell. Campbell on the Oilers would spring all the young speed in the neutral zone for big rushes as well add a another strong point player on the powerplay. Souray, Pitkanen, Stoll, and Campbell at the points….watch out.
my life revolves around hockey.. i know all.. i see all. i see a trade in the futre … the oilers are getting carey price and andre markov for reasoner… its already in the books.. edmonton has goaltending.. also they might get malkin.. but i dont know about that one just yet
Do have a credible source source for that trade bigman other then your imagination?
ur all crazy
really
u guys have some weird ideas
bye the way im new..ive benn reading the convo for months but never new how 2 make a name..
i think the islanders are gonna be ood next year there doin wat everyy team should do there building there team around rokkies
im pretty sure malkin will go some were in the north east divisoin to the islanders …good chance of it……..rangers……they are okay with it but they cant spend much money….. or the devil pretty good since they lost some money players………..philedulphia…….good chance but the could use a goalie….the penguins dont have a good chance because its either they have to keep malkin or hossa if they get rid of hoosa then really the same channces with getting mslkin
my bad it was so posed to be spelld malkin
wait
iis malkin even a free aent
damm
im that bored!

u no all i think is the leafs are fucked there not makin the playofs they have no players to trade that there get somthing good back there is some good players to sign over the summer but most of them will get re signed .There stuk with sundin and maccabe and all of the other players for a while . All i no is the leafs are going to need a make over .
wow islanders 5 pick baby wooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
islanders have 5 pick wooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the Devils can actually sign someone that can score goals. Too bad Lou doesn’t like to spend money . . . .
okay, Kevin’s idea for a trade between Toronto and Montreal… let’s just say this. I hope to god that was your sense of humor shining through. Raycroft and a 5th round pick for Carey Price and Andrei Markov??? Raycroft himself isn’t worth a seventh round pick, and a 5th round pick for a “franchise” goaltender, and one of the top scoring defensemen in the league??? While we’re at it, lets suggest the Islanders trade Andy Hilbert and a 5th round pick for Mikka Kiprusoff and Dion Phaneuf. I’d say that’s the equivalent of your suggestion. You’re crazy.
Toronto needs to trade Raycroft
Tor-Raycroft, 5th round pick FOR LA- Cammalerri, Bernier
…sorry, this was Kevin’s idea. i got all of these crazy trade ideas mixed up. it was the Canadiens getting Marty Reasoner for Carey Price and Andrei Markov by “Bigman”. So whatever the hell it is your smoking, share with the rest of us. Though I apologize to Kevin, worthless Raycroft and a 5th rounder aren’t worth Cammelleri himself… forget adding future star goalie Jonathan Bernier. Sorry for the mixup, but it’s “almost” as dillusional as Bigman’s idea. Cheers. Oh yeah, and Guy? I’m an Islanders fan just like you. Let me let you down easy here. We are NOT getting Malkin. Ever. We don’t have enough assets to land this superstar without depleting the depth in our organization to absolutely nothing (we’d be in debt even!), and he’s not gonna be unrestricted for a long time.
i dint say that the islanders would get him all i said was trhat he would stay in that division also hilbert and the five pick are worth more than phenuff 2.. our five pick is a deffensmen also and younger than phenuff
listen i dont give a crap bottom line raycroft sucks and needs to beee traded for the love of god please stop talking about him
hahaha! You are so funny guys. I was watching your posts, soooo funny! First of all let’s be clear, Raycroft sucks, and nobody wants of that peace of crap. Like a lot of time in Maple leafs history, they didn’t have any advantage in that trade. I guess that is why you guys in Toronto don’t even have a picture in colour with the stanley cup. While you are still crying because of your team being eliminated AGAIN, in Montreal we are making our way for our 25th stanley cup. Ok, I know it is not for this year, but how do you bet we win the stanley cup for the 11th time since your last one?
Oh, and just stop trying to imagine deals with Mats Sundin, nobody wants to give a Crosby, Ovechkin or Malkin for Sundin, even if you give all your team with him for one of them. I hope he will be smart enough to come in Montreal to be on the right side and most of all finally win the Stanley cup, because winning the Stanley cup in toronto is like trying to have a better team history than the Canadiens: Impossible!
Maple Leafs: losers since 1967
oh, and by the way. While in toronto you are crying because of Raycroft we, in Montreal, are having one of the futures NHL top players: CAREY PRICE!!
So when you are gonna watch the Leafs playing golf, just think about that incredible goaler your worst ennemies can rebuild their dinasty on… ;)
damm well said
I think your whole arguement is a waste of time. Sundins going to retire this summer and really, who could blame him. I don’t think anybody on that team wants to deal with their front office soap opera. What were they thinking giving 7 different players no-trade clauses in their contracts. And as far as Steen, Wellwood, and Stajan being the “future stars” I think they have nothing but mediocrotie to look forward to their entire carriers. As far as what first step they should take in the right direction, I vote throw Paul Maurice in front of the bus.
P.S. Ashamedly I am a Leafs fan
That’s the stupidest thing…Vancouver will never get Spezza! Ottawa will never get Luongo. Thats the last thing these two teams need to do! Spezza’s 24, we’ve got him locked @7million/season. Go give your head a shake GHGF, you know nothing about pro hockey just keep playing in on you’re 1st generation playstation and stay off the sound boards…knucklehead
Toronto is horible
NewJersey Devils rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Parise is one of the best young players in the nhl
Sundin isn’t going to retire. He’s going to retire after next season Ugg.
Thats possible, but with the direction the leafs are taking, or rather the lack there of I could certainly see him doing it now. Especially if the rumors of Stajan getting the C on his jersey prove to be true.
where’s Peter Forsberg going
The free agents I would be most excited to see go to one of the teams I cheer for namely the leafs, caps, and avs (though I don’t appreaciate the ten year reunion team moves they made at the trade deadline)
Kristian Huselius, Ryan Malone, Brian Campbell, Brooks Orpik, David Legwand, Vaclav Prospal, Daniel Cleary, Ron Hainsey, Mark Streit, Micheal Rozsival, and Pavol Demitra (though injury prone)
I would put Mike Ribeiro and Radim Vrbata at the top of this list but would be surprised to see them still on the UFA list come July 1st.
Oh and with buyout rumors surrounding Raycroft I’d like to see Stephen Valiquette back up Toskala
Forsberg? ether back to Sweden or probably the local ER
Do you think the Devils are going to have a good team next season
I think the Devils will still be solid. They have a great front office that knows how to find the pieces they need. As long as they have Brodeur in net they’ll be an easy in for the playoffs.
What do youthink about the Avery rule. I think the Devils should of beat him up and make sure he was covered in blood.
haha! Colin White got his shot in on him after Callahan rammed Marty. I just hope Avery and Commador end up on the same team. (both being free agents) I can’t stand either one of them. I want them both to go to a team I hate like the Flyers.
listen no ofense devils fans but brodeur sucks and there gonna need a goalie soon also the deviks are solid but they cant score goals thats be gomez left.
ps islanders rock for 2008 2009 season
were ia fedorov goin after this year isnt he a free agents this year
the islanders would have a lot of money to spend if they dindnt have to pay that rusiian dirt bag yashin
even no hes in russia
Listen the devils are going to get a good foward from the free agency and Marty has 4 years left and Marty is the best golie ever.
Stop complaining about Yashin and it was the Islanders mistake to give him that huge contract
name 4 good players the islanders have right now
who’s on this website right now
Crosby will b on pitt for his whole career or maybe another team later on at the very end of his career.
guy you suck i dont like your comments
p.s. islanders suckand they always will
go leafsssssssssssss
sundin rulesss
Federov is a free agent this year. He could consider retirement or test the water. Its unlikely the Caps will keep him especially with a healthy Nylander returning in the fall. The free agents I want to see Washington keep are Cooke, Huet, and Bradley.
I think the caps are going to keep Federov with a pretty big contract
what’s going to happen to daymond langkow
danielio what is the new website going to be called and why are you going to move this website
I haven’t heard much prediction on Langkows future. If hes still on the UFA list come July he could easily be one of the most saute after centers. Teams I think who would be interested in him the most include the Lightning, Devils, and Blackhawks. All of which I believe he’d be a good fit. But thats just my speculation.
Daymond Langkow won’t be going anywhere. He just re-uped with the flames for 4 years at $20 million
Ok, first off I am a Canadiens fan, I only hate Toronto cause of Sundin and his huge gay grin. But as for predictions, Montreal is going to make a huge off-season move, they have loads of cap room with their deportation of Huet to Washington. Also Ryder will get traded this summer. Leafs, they need to trade McCabe, he isn’t worth the amount of cap room he his taking up. They also need to trade Raycroft, EVERYONE knows that. Also anyone who says Tucker needs to be traded is retarded. I also dislike him but he is very good and very valuable and pretty much he is the heart of the team. Paul Maurice NEEDS to be fired and also needs to get some sleep. Sundin wants to leave, he has already said it. Also he has no chance at a cup in Toronto seeing how he will retire after next season or two. As for the Pittsburgh, Hossa will be gone, other than that small changes. Ottawa need to get goaltending and Vancouver need scoring that is where the Luongo-Spezza rumors came from which actually would work out to both teams advantage. Ottawa could possibly trade Spezza, he wants out and they will trade given the right offer. The big names such as Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin. No worries they are staying put. No doubt about it. Some other teams need huge changes. Teams such as Devils, Lightning, Islanders, Canucks, Flames, and Sabers.
Evans you make a lot of points, some good, some bad. Ryder will not be traded he is a UFA, if he wants to leave he will just sign with another team. Brian McCabe has a no trade clause that he refuses to waive and no one in their right mind would offer a trade for Raycroft. But the latter is in the last year of his contract which is why it is expected he will be bought out. Sundin wants to retire a Leaf and isn’t interested in playing for any other team. He made that PAINFULLY clear in January as he refused to waive his NTC (which I might add would have been the best for the team). Pittsburgh will have plenty of roster changes this summer and the Luongo-Spezza trade is a pipe dream. Luongo has an NTC and even if he waived it who would play net for Vancouver. If traded for Spezza, who would center the line with Heatly and Alfredsson. Anyone taking that rumor seriously must be delusional.
crosby and malkin to the leafs for mcabe
i think that colorado will pick up eith rolston or naslund later on.
Rangers should get Ryan Malone and Pascal Dupuis and forget about shannahan. He is too old.
Montreal needs to sign Avery and/or Laraque this summer. The habs have a lot of young offensive prospect. But they don’t have any guys to hit hard and droping the gloves. (plz dont talk to me about Lapierre and Kostopoulos) They need a guy who can build he’s office in the front of the net and make some shit sometimes. Komisarek is a big hard hitter but he’s a defensman. We don’t have any forward for this kind of job. Streit and Brisebois gonna stay, we need them both. Smolinski , Ryder have to leave as soon as possible. If i was Bob Gainey, i would try to make a deal for a experimented goalie+draft picks or young player in exchange of Jaroslav Halak and Mathieu Dandenault.
The Colorado Avalanche 2008-2009 breakdown (What to expect)
Joe Sakic will probably sign for one more year for a similar contract as he had this year, (He wont play or be available for any other team)
Peter Forsberg will most likely NOT be in camp with the Avs this year but as he did state to the press that he will play no where else but Colorado. I expect him to either sign a 1 yr contract similar to Sakic’s, or else I for see him pulling a Teemu Salanne and coming in at the middle of the season after skating around in MODO. Or the third option: retire.
John-Michael Liles will probably be signed for a multi-year contract unless he demands too much money, then I think the Avs will let him go.
Adam Foote will be in the same boat as Sakic and Forsberg and come back with a 1 yr deal.
Jose Theodore will probably be cut loose. His agent will cite his better play against Minnesota and want more money then the Avs will give him.
As for the goalie situation, I have a feeling the Avs will try to stick with Peter Budaj and build a solid defense around him and Ruslan Salei was a good start.
Wojtek Wolski will likely be signed back because despite his inconsistency as a player he is one of their solid prospects.
Andrew Brunette will be back as well probably for 2-3yr deal
Marek Svatos may be re-signed because he did lead the team in scoring, but I have a feeling he will be the poor man’s Sergei Fedorov and will have his career hindered with injuries mixed with great performance and sudden declines and slumps. I dont think the Avs have anything to lose by signing him; he is another gun on an ailing offense and he just needs to be put on the right line with the right chemistry; it really is ashame that he just cannot stay healthy.
Major Free Agents:
Don’t expect the Colorado Avalanche to pick up phenomenal additions. They have made some bold moves in the past but have become more gun shy in the Cap Era.
I expect them to sign up some more solid defenseman and some power play experts (We had the worse Power Play in the NHL).
As much as I would like to see Marian Hossa on the team, Im not holding my breath. Hossa is starting to get to his “peak” in his career and the Avs need to think about getting a true replacement for Sakic. We need a franchise captain who will take charge and put this team under his wing. The Avs need to really take a look at making a VERY bold trade for a much heralded prospect. As much as I know it will never happen, the Avs should have traded for this years’ draft prospect Steve Stamkos because his playing style, size and hands are very similar to Sakic’s. I think the Avs signed Ryan Smyth with the idea that he was Sakic’s replacement but he is up there as well and is not used to the Avalanche organizations way of doing things and our playing style. I think the Avalanche for too long have relied on franchise tag players, and big later-in-life free agents to keep their heads above the water, but the truth is starting to show that the Avalanche are slow and need speed and grit. Paul Stastny will most likely be the next captain on the Avalanche, but he needs to step up his leadership or else he will just be a support cast like Milan Hejduk and Alex Tanguay was for years after they came out as rookies.
I seen comments at the top that suggested that the Avs pick up Brian Rolston, or Naslund. This will never happen… 1) Brian Rolston was already with the organization and did well, but was used in a trade to Boston for Ray Bourque; now, even though he is still a pretty consistent player, he is again; getting older and will provide no future for the Avs, the same is true with Naslund…Except that Naslund and the Avs have had some bad blood in the past (AKA. Steve Moore from the Avs putting him out of the season, and then later Bertuzzi’s retaliation hit on Moore that broke his neck.) I wouldn’t expect him to come here, not now, not ever. Also, discount Mats Sundin as well; just not worth it.
So who DO the Colorado Avalanche go for in a slim pickings NHL Free Agent market?
I think the Avs need to not concern themselves as much as finding “big names” as finding dependable and reliable leaders and tougher lines. I wish the Avs had Joe Thornton, because I think he would have flourished here; I still think he should be traded for because he would work very well in our system; and the Sharks may consider it now especially after losing once again in the playoffs; but it will most likely never happen. As for Free Agents: David Legwand or Mike Commodore (one or the other) would be both solid choices the Avalanche should look into. Kristian Huselius would also be another wise choice but the Avs I think are avoiding another Flames player especially since injury riddled Jordan Leopold, but I think the Flames will resign Huselius. Pavol Demitra would be a tempting pick-up by the Avs but I am sure teams will out bid the Avs, and I dont think the Avs should sign basically a younger Milan Hejduk, it wont help them long term. Radim Vrbata would be a good sign back to the Avs, he played well for us and now with former Avs forward Steven Reinprecht, they just ate us alive when we played Phoenix this year. No, Rob Blake reunions in Denver, he is on his way to retirement and he already lives in LA (even when he played for the Avs). If the Avs fail to sign John-Michael Liles they should try for Jay Bouwmeester, he is a very consistent blue-liner and is used to playing with Ruslan Salei in Florida.
But despite all of this I wouldn’t hold my breath for anyone. I think the Avs may retreat into developing their prospects from Lake Erie AHL. It would be nice to see a few key moves this summer; even some bold moves by Gigure (GM) but the only thing we may see is the end of one era and the beginning of another.
Streit (3 years / 8 millions or something like that). Smolinski is not worth the 2 millions he earned this year and will probably sign elsewhere. Ryder is also a goner. Brisebois might prove to be a usefull insurance, but I’d rather bring in a young defensemen.
Some reports about the Canadiens space beneath the salary cap seems to show that the team is left with around 14 millions to sign players this summer.
2,5 millions to Streit
The Habs will have to offer a 4 million/year deal to Andrei Kostitsyn for at least 5 years.
The rest of the money shall be used to a sign a winger to play on the second line with Saku Koivu. Interesting prospects are Jaromir Jagr (I heard he has become free agent because he did not reach the 84 points needed this year for the Rangers to pay the optional season left on his contract), Marian Hossa, Brian Rolston.
They also have to keep money for signing minor RFAs, such as Lapierre, O’Byrne and such.
I would love to see Jeff Carter as a center for the third line in Montreal, but I’m not really interested in giving away draft picks to sign an RFA, so I guess either Chipchura or Lapierre will have to step up to that role for this year.
I’m not quite sure yet if trading Chris Higgins would be a good idea, he has been very disapointing this year but i think we should give him another year to prove his worth.
OH… by the way… LEAFS FANS… I almost have pity forn you guys even tough the Leafs are the team I hate the most. You guys have no significant trade options, no really good young prospects… I think you guys are headed for another forty years of losing.
Okay i don’t understand why guys like Nummelin and Kwiatkowski are signing in Europe. Both got a substancial amount of playing time with Minnesota and Atlanta respectively. Is it just for the European playoffs? Here’s the website

Sakic and Perry are going to sign with the canucks
Very good chance that would happen
Vancouver will make a big splash this year, good cap space, Francesco Aquilini made it clear he wants a winner and its now or never the players are out there .If they want to make fans happy they will spend money on big name players like Sakic , Perry , Hossa ,Rolston, Ryder etc. Luongo only has 2 years left in canucks unifourm maybe the time is now .Not 5 or 6 years from now, saying this for all the canucks fans out there…
canucks better make a move 2 get doan or something
sakic and perry? no chance that wud be nice but no that wont happen
Here are players that could be interesting for the Montreal Canadiens:
Laraque / Andre Roy: We need a guy to protect our small players. I see andre Roy in this job, because you can’t scratch Laraque.
Mats Sundin: I always hated sundin because he played for Toronto and Quebec, but the guy is big, talented and he is a really good leader.
Joe Sakic: still ruling, big presence in the locker room.
the top 2:
2) Brian Rolston: complete player, huge heart, wants to win, excellent defensively
1) Marian Hossa: for any team, it would be the jackpot. We know saw he can play in important games, good in the 3 territories, natural born scorer
My Flyers 2008-09 Free Agent Wish List:
Marian Hossa – Pitt
Brooks Orpik – Pitt
Mike Green – Wash
Valtteri Filppula – Det
Re-sign: Carter, Cote, Prospal; Umberger
Dont Resign: Smith, everyone else on their list.
That is all. Enjoy.
I actually see Lecavalier goin to the canucks. tampa bay is goin to blow up there team canucks need to rebuid with guys who can PUT THE PUCK…..IN THE NET, not pluuging fourth liners. And maybe a Demitra or a Rolston that would bolster the second line nd can play on the first line. But gettin Lecavalier would take them to trade (hate me if ya want to) the Sedin twins, think about it the canucks could get quite a bit for them not just Lecavalier. They could get the Lightning first round pick nd prospects nd more cap room to really bolster this team and with Luongo who knows.
My mistake it would probably take a Luc Bourdon and/or Cory Schneider to get a first nd prospects.
………Not just the Sedin twins……………and the leafs SUCK BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope to see the Blackhawks make a play for Hossa, he’s the perfect fit. Natural scorer, together with the 2 rookies of the year.
toronto effing sucks
rico=richard d???
Leafers should keep Diner, trade away Mccabe for some prospects/draft picks and look to stock up on prospect forwards like vermette and or kelly from ottawa…raycroft could definitely go too
Philadelphia is most likely going to go after Brian Campbell
I think that the leafs are actually in a good spot right now. Yes they need to rebulid and getting rid of dead weiight is the first step.
1) Get rid of Blake for younger players that can be molded.
2) Get rid of Raycroft for whatever you can get. Anything is better than he was.
3)Trade Kabrele for Campbell. Campbell will be a great asset on the Blue line.
4) dump McCabe for what ever.
5) Let Sundin go becasue that was his thought all along – to screw the leafs in the end.
Here is how the will improve:
1) Keep quality goaltending (Toskala and Poogy or Clemmenson)
2) Give Bell another chance. He had problems but he was picked 8th overall and the potential is still there.
3) Make some moves for 1st and 2nd round picks. This is a must.
4) Sign a quality GM – Bobby Clarke is ready to jump right in. Screw Burke he is not coming.
Note: I still think that the Leafs have seceretly made a deal with one of the bottom 5 teams for thier 1st pick but nothing can be said until draft day.
If you do not agree – go sit on it and rotate and if you do agree you made the right choice.
Leafs need to clean the stink out of their dressing room. Blake, Tucker, Raycroft and McCabe need to be moved. Bring on some mediocre youth- as a whole they’ll accomplish more than the 4 mentioned above. Blake’s a jerk and hates being in T.O., Tucker is banged up and lost his edge, Raycroft has taken too much mental abuse and is messed up, and McCabe is a distraction to the team.
Theres no way you should ever get rid of Kaberle he’s a lot better than Campbell even tho Campbell is a solid defenceman. Kaberle is actually the best player on the leafs, the best defenceman in the eastern conference and it would be a huge mistake to get rid of him. Poggie adn Clemenson aren’t even close to good enough and shouldn’t see more than 5 games in the season. Also I agree w/ the removal of tucker raycroft mccabe and blake…all fairly useless
Pens resign Hossa, Malone, Rutuu. Get Armstrong back.
Your looking at the next Stanley Cup Winners.
GO PENS!!!!!!
Armstrong is awful and brutla looking….Malone is a plug and Jarko Rutuu should be traded for some new pucks and water bottles….that’s as accurate as it gets
your all a bunch of goofs none of you know what your talking about why don’t you honk on bobo the trade will be malkin and crosby for raycroft and yo mama
yo wow kevin u obviously arent a big hockey fan…cuz ovechkin leaving a team that he carries and will get any kind of deal he wants for any type of money and always been seen as a starr….very unlikely man ..unless sumone trades 2 first round picks a star center or lw that could replace his speed and strength and shot…..not only that hes getting awards upon awards with the caps …plus the caps are building a new team around him ..he wont leave thats like saying crosby will be traded its the same story with the capitols…… honestly jim is the only modest minded person with any hockey sence …im not a leafs fan but what u said made great sence to me ….and honestly the flyers will not go after cambell unless they drop gagne but we all know the flyers too well …they wont were a stupid franchise ..if we did get rid of him it would free up the cap room to make the signings that will be difficult this year such as carter and umburger and jones and another offer for ext for biron …dont get me wrong cambell would be great but already holmgrom said cambell probably wont be signing plus hes asking in the upward 7 mill area ….if the flyers make good decisions this off season they will be a cup contending team again next year !!! ….someone pleae tell the idiots on this site that THE UNREALISTIC IDEAS THEY HAVE will never happen ..thast like the flyers asking for sakic drury and Iginla for 2 first round pics ….would never happen !!!
btw sean …ur story sounds good about pens resignings but do u realize what these players are asking and what kinda cap room the pens have?
probably not …hossa 7 mill unless he makes a bargain deal
malone will want at least 3-4 mill this year and will wont a multi year deal
and jarko …u know he wants more …..at least 3 mill a year if not more …..thats rite there about 12 mill for 3 players for one year and thats not counting a contract exten for ur lovely lil 20 year old goalie so i think u need to reevaluate the penguins situ!
last but not least ..rico …again another retard on our hands …..they will not get rid of lecavliar……first off becuase they suck ass …they will pick up the number on draft pick this year which will be steven stamkos …who will be the crosby of their team and they will have vincent on a line with stamkos ….than a second line with st louis and sumone else …..their team is going to fucking be insanly good this year and possibly going into 09-10 ……noone on the lightning is going anyhwere ……please PEOPLE READ UP ON HOCKEY STOP BEING DUMB!!!!!! esp when the people u see leaving are ALREADY ON CONTRACTS AND NOONE WILL MATCH THEM WITH THE HIGH PAY THEY GET!!!!!! ughh ..go to a rink please and take a slap shot in the face and maybe gain sum sence!!!
Justin, please learn how to spell. I agree with many of your comments but I don’t see the Lightning being that good next year. They should be a lot better than 30th and will most likely challenge for top spot in the weak Southeast division though. A lot will depend upon what type of a season Mike Smith has in net and if they can pick up a player to compliment St. Louis on the second line- maybe Daymond Langkow or Brendan Morrison…. but I’d rather see those guys sign elsewhere (maybe one in Toronto). And who knows for sure if Stamkos will be thrown onto the first line with Lecavalier? Aren’t they both more valuable as Centers? In that case, I’d rather see Stamkos and St. Louis playing together on the second line. I’d actually love to see Lecavalier playing for the Canadiens someday- just dreaming I know, but if I trade could be worked out that’d be awesome…
Did someone say Spezza to Vancouver….for Luongo…done deal!
Still laughing at Leafs trade for 33 year old tough guy…good bye Tucker oh and by the way did Toronto finally get an NHL franchise? haven’t seen them in the playoffs for so long …was wondering?
As for Oven chiken (Ovechkin) going to Montreal Roflmao…..Habs haven’t got enough quality players to trade to get him.
Got to love the Leaf faithful…Cliff Fletcher and Wilson…..omg can’t u smell the cup? Oh wait think the dog left me a present…..
THE EDMONTON OILERS HAVE THE BEST YOUTHFUL TEAM IN THE LEAGUE………..
HEMSKY HORCOFF PENNER
NILSSON COGLIANO GAGNER
PISANI STOLL TORRES
STORTINI BRODZIAK GLENCROSS
SOURAY PITKANEN
GILBERT GREBESHKOV
SMID STAIOS
MATTHEW GARON
DWAYNE ROLOSON
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ONLY TWO OF THESE PLAYERS HAVE HIT THIRTY, OILERS ARE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE AND THIS YEAR OR THE NEXT THEY WILL BE SERIOUS CONTENDERS FOR THE CUP. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY DIDNT MAKE IT TO THE PLAOFFS THIS YEAR AFTER THEIR LATE SEASON DASH BECAUSE WITH THEIR COMBO OF GRINDERS TO SKILLED PLAYMAKERS THEY HAD POTENTIAL TO GIVE THE WINGS OR DUCKS OR SHARKS A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY JUST LIKE IN 06!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ps OVECHKIN is the most skillful player in the league no matter what anyone says even if he is a bit lazy
And burnaby joe you gotta come back for one more i speak for all canadians when i say this we love you (and hope to see you for 2010 in one way or another…….
)
i agree joe sakic is the best canadian hockey player there is in the nhl still…he has to come back!!! the avs are my favorite team anyways ;)
I’ll bet that goalie Jacob Markstrom is one of the biggest talents Panthers got their hands on.
Lucky Pathers….
And the Coyotes will go big this season imagine, Doan, Jokinen, Mueller, Jovanovski, Hanzal, Bryzgalov…..and they’ve got some more awesome rookies comming.
But they really need some strength on the defence, hope they find some qualities at the free-agents that could take Ballard and Boyntons spots. Phoenix have something big growing, they’ll go to the playoffs this season, everything else is a disapointment.
As a Flame fan , I would like Calgary to look at Ryan Malone. He would sure fit our team nicely. Also any thoughts on Buffalo laying a little pay back on Kevin Lowe/oilers for that Vanic affair, Look out they just might make an offer to Robert Nilsson. You know what , I wouldn’t mind if my Flames made that offer but not Sutter’s style.
bruins looking at campbell and hossa
g
http://www.totalnhl.webs.com the best site for the NHL
bruins getting hossa for sure
Brodeur is a crying little bitch!
Anyone know any rumors with trades or free agents involving the Rangers?
Bruins should be more aggressive to sign either Hossa Campell or Naslund. And/Or Cristobal Huet
The Rangers are in a bad position buddy. i dont think they are going to make any big deals. and plus the trade rumors are always FAKE
Milan Lucic and Phil Kessel are the two greatest hidden young talents in the NHL so if either of them get dealed ill rip the balls off of jeremy jacobs
Thanks..lol
Sabres will get RHETT WHARRNER. Spezza will get traded to the TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS for a bag of pucks just to get rid of his salary.
Sabres will make it to the playoffs this year and RYAN MILLER IS NOT WORTH ALL THAT MONEY he’s overrated. JHONAS ENROTH will be there new goalie after next season.
Yeah I agree with U Enroth is a big challenger to NO.1 goalie.
I don’t know why sme people are wasting there time saying stupid things, but all I know is
Im a true toronto fan…
Leafs Get
Avery, Hopefully Huselius from CGY
Allready Out/Will be Out
Raycroft
Tucker
Clemmensen
Everyone else prob but Stajan….
Also Hossa to Boston and Sundin has 3 options…
Sign With habs
Sign With Leafs
Sign With Leafs Without no trade, Then leafs screw him over and trade him to some team (Doesnt have to be habs)
leafs suck and they will not make it to the playoffs for the next couple of years
buffalo you need a good deffencmen and you have to get rid of some of your forwards like max and stafford. I think stafford is a lazzy player and could be traded for a good player
lightning just signed malone, prospal, roberts, and niskala
capitals signed another goalie, jose theodore
capital doesn’t need another goalie they have quet and johnson how much more do they need. Is VINY PROSPAL going to sign with the lightning again i thought the reason why he left was because he haited TAMPA BAY. I think PROSPAL is an idiot for signing with them again because he’ll be complaining all over again.
Malkin is cominn to Rangers or what?!
kolzig left and went to tampa bay and johnson isn’t too good. now they have two good goalies.
if jagr doesn’t sign with the rangers again (which he probably will) he’ll go to the penguins
canucks own
HaHaHaHa canucks are horible and they will NEVER WIN A STANLEY CUP for a long time.
Agreed , canucks suck.
campbell with blackhawks, huet with blackhawks…toews and kane…..blackhawks will kill next year

this is a way better free agent tracker!!
Rangers made bad move by letting Avery go
to Dallas
the avs could use huselius to fill andrew brunnette’s spot
As an oiler fan i’d rather have jagr for 2 yrs than hossa for 9. So here’s to hoping.
rangers suck are going to suck next season
Yeahh hahaha thats funny
you Crazy Frank, did you not see who the Rangers picked up,watch for Tampa and San Jose next season possibly Columbus,Detroit will not repeat, teams are to good these day’s pretty sure many thought Anahiem would have done the same,AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST LEAFS WILL ROCK YOU,OTTAWA IS GOING DOWN CRASHING AND BURNING LIKE EVERY OTHER FREAKING SEASON THE BEST UNDERACHIVERS IN THE LEAGUE HAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
leafs suck and ottawa is going to do much better than the leafs. the leafs are going to be in last place next season and evrybdy knows it
PENGUINS RULE SATAN CROSBY ???DEMITRA???

money out of hand, only the well off teams buy up these over rated has beens. Pay a player that much why would he put out. …Six teams cannot draw a crowd and we are to believe that revenue is up. All I have to say to those spend crazy GM’s is watch out , the canadian dollar may not be that high next year. And just suppose that say feul and food costs rise … and the US economy turns down ,,, think your revenues just might turn south… what happens if the cap turns down and some contracts have to be honored,,, what happens if your stuck over the cap ? … to M hossa hey shit for brains read above comments and ponder leaving 50 million on the table, you may never get an offer like than ever again
This is the worst fucking website ever. fucking jerk
Yes, I also agree with this mans statement. This is a very shitty site.
Nice try kiddo.
u are all fuckers!!! haha owned
